U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that United States District Judge Lawrence J. O'Neill sentenced 38-year-old Juan Garcia-Galvez of Merced, and 40-year-old Praxedis Barragan, aka Jorge Barragan-Morales of Winton, to 2 years in prison for conspiring to cultivate, distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana.

A judge earlier this week sentenced two Merced County men each to two years in federal prison for conspiring to cultivate, distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Sacramento.

The Merced County Sheriff's Department reported Sunday finding several firearms, several hundred rounds of ammunition and a bulletproof vest during the search of a Winton man's car and home.

A 34-year-old previously deported felon was arrested last week after he was discovered with guns and ammunition, the Merced County Sheriff's Department reported.

Merced County Sheriff's deputies are looking for suspects who may have been involved in three shootings Friday and Saturday in Winton and south Atwater.
